2 Months and still going...

It's been two months for us all, and I'm just wondering how everyone is doing. So, if anyone is still reading this blog, chime in and tell us how you are doing.

I'm doing fine. The wounds healed up just fine, I got most of my stamina back, and I feel great! Just in time for my favorite time of year, Autumn!

Nice to see an update! Glad you are doing well. I am being evaluated as a donor but since the recipient's condition is not dire (a good thing, I hasten to say), the process seems to drag along. I am not sure whether I will ultimately qualify or wash out because of family health history (not kidney related). Not having a PCP also complicates things. Even with insurance, just getting in to see a doctor has been an enormous PITA. But worth it if I can keep a very vital person off dialysis.

It's about time! :) I just went to my transplant class and will be meeting with the transplant team next month. I have possible donors waiting to be tested. (I am one of those that are not in immediate dire need yet) Glad I have a little time on my side...hopefully!

Hey Anthony! I haven't been on here in a while, so I'm glad to see you're still posting. I am doing great! I continue to tell my story over and over to new faces and new people. I've been recognized up here a bunch for the paper and the CBS show. It's dying down, but I never get bored of talking about it. Through my experience I've met several people who have been touched in one way or another by kidney disease/failure. I went for a complete physical with my Dr. (results in tomorrow) and he thought that I was the altruistic donor, and when I told him I wasn't he, as a physician, was floored that someone (you) would just donate your kidney with no vested interest. I was floored that he would have that opinion, especially as a physician! We clearly have more work to do. I'm not sure how all the other donors feel, but before I donated my kidney I can honestly say that I would probably not have just donated without having a loved one involved. NOW, after going thru this I wish that I had a third kidney to give. I would do it in a heart beat! For such little inconvenience, the greatness of donating a living kidney is enormous! Great to hear from you Anthony. Sorry I rattled on! Do you get the group emails I send out every now and then to everyone? Take Care!

Thank you all for still reading this slowly dying blog. Laura, I'm happy to hear you are doing so well. I feel the same was about wanting a third kidney so that I can do this again.

BTW, I do get the emails, keep them coming!
