Yesterday I was sitting around before dinner when the phone range. On the line was a lady who called to thank me for donating. She read about our story on the front page of the Poughkeepsie Journal and felt compelled to call. She is a survivor of a pancreas/kidney donation, so I could feel the added gratitude in her voice. Very sweet.
Later, on my way out to dinner, I stopped and picked up my mail. Hidden between piles of junk mail was a small thank you card, sent by another local woman after reading about us in the Daily News. It just doesn't get any better than this...

We're gonna call you about this tomorrow, but thought I'd give you a heads up anyway.
We'd be honored to still have you and Amy over for dinner (dinner's yours? -dessert's on me), but we can't seem to touch base with Pieter or Antonia. So!--we're planning on dining and wining without them, or at least until we can exchange a 'Ciao' over the telefono.
You still game?
Yeah, we'll be there...
Hi Anthony, I'm sure it feels good to know that you've touched peoples hearts. I know you are humble, but you deserve all the thanks and pats on the back that you get. I'm not sure that any of us can thank you enough or that there are any words that can truly say how we feel about your gift. You call it selfish, but it really is the most selfless thing one can do. Hope you are feeling almost as good as new. I still have good days and bad days, but mostly feeling stronger each day.

If I had a beautiful, stately surname, and I do (and you agree), I would request an update to this blog that's been set aside, however briefly.
How's the last stitch coming along? Are you still falling asleep before dusk and waving away dessert? When's the last time you had a homemade, aesthetic cornbread muffin?
Lady, you are absolutely correct. An update will be posted today.
The final stitch is but a memory. Through strength and perseverance, I gave it one final stingy tug, leaving nothing but a memory behind.
I think you had more corn muffin on you than in the oven...but I'm not complaining.
Is the fifth digit of your cell number 0 or 7?
Sir Handsomepants,
The third digit is a '7'.

Ask for Jenny.
Call me: I rang you up, but some guy named Tommy answered...
